Identifying Star Clusters

  There are many stars in these images-- how do we distinguish between a stellar cluster and just a lot of stars?

  it's your call really - often it's not easy to say if a group of stars is a real cluster or not. Just go with what you think. Lots of people will analyse the same image so if a majority say it's a cluster it will be marked as such. I find it useful to look at collections of clusters - mine's here if it helps. 😃
