artifact

  I have seen the word artifact used to describe an object, can someone plz inform me what they are, and are we suppose to mark them in any way

  An artifact is anything in the image that is artificial, like errors or lens flares.

  I've marked quite a few -- usually red rectangles where one of the three data sources is missing -- but I don't know that it's necessary to do so. But please spell it right - artifact, not artefact.
