  #question "Is this just an artefact from the star? Like you would see on the GZ SDSS images? I marked it as a fuzzy red patch, but now I'm thinking it's not.":(32x49@20,161)

  I probably would have left that alone as a star, as it's margins are well defined and it is very round. I suspect the artifact left by a star has a lot to do with its size, temp, and distance - so you can get a range of artifactual appearances.
