    What is going on in this picture? A straight, pixelated line separates black space from red glare. Anyone have an idea as to what is happening?

    #artifact.
    It's just a failure in the graphical material. Maybe a software bug or sth like that caused this two different coloured spaces. It's definitely not real 😉

    Fleshgod has is right. This image falls outside of the boundary of the Spitzer/MIPSGAL survey that provided the "red" color for our images. So our software just colors in maximum red to show us where the missing pixels are.
