planet orbiting star?

  • sundae_driver by sundae_driver

while perhaps unlikely, I happened upon an image of a very bright (near by) star being eclipsed by a filled black circle , very much like a solar ecipse: has any one else encountered a similar object? is such a finding important? I classified it as 'other;other'.

Hi sundae driver, if your image looked like any of these then it is just a bright star. Because the Spitzer cameras are calibrated to image nebulous dust when they image these bright stars the result is oversaturated - and often with a dark spot in the centre which can look quite striking!
